Regular activities

  • Field trips to those enterprises actively involved at phaenovum as well as to other interesting organizations to get a closer look at occupational fields. There, students can see how the things they learned at phaenovum are put to practical use.
  • Intensive seminars, for example, are offered at one-week and weekend block courses where students can expand their knowledge of certain specialist areas such as scanning probe microscopy, fluid mechanics or professional skills in areas such as how to use laboratory equipment, machines and robots. Consequently, speakers are also provided by companies.
  • Weekly multi-hour classes on methods used in scientific work also take a very practical approach by teaching students basic principles and looking at research issues not only relevant to universities but to industry, as well. Participating companies provide employees for these sessions, too.
  • Students are to present what they have learned, researched and created on a regular basis, e.g. at events such as ScienceDays, open houses and even events held by participating companies (in-house exhibitions, national and international competitions).
  • Exchange with trainees of participating companies and scientists from universities, e.g. to jointly develop experimental set-ups or become familiar with the operation of laboratory equipment.
  • The companies can offer students a three-week internship.
